Waltham Cross GP Surgery

We have now completed the fourth and final phase of works, having been procured through the SCAPE framework. Conamar were appointed, under
the terms of this framework, to develop the design from initial feasibility stages through to delivery and handover.

The project comprises the internal and external refurbishment of the existing surgery. The programme has been phased into four phases – the first phase of works is the external upgrades, and then following a period for the building users to decant into temporary premises, we carried out
MEP upgrades including replacement of legacy plant items, followed by two phases of significant remodelling and reconfiguration works internally.

The existing building is a two storey structure which has been extended twice, and the layout and circulation is poor. There is a plant room at roof level and further plant in the basement, all of which will be upgraded as part of the overall project. Internally, the extensions have not been fully coordinated, leaving windows in what were the original external walls. These windows, which used to look outside, now look into clinical spaces which is no longer appropriate for the building users.
