Mamma Mia: The Story

The idea behind this project is to create an immersive dining experience in Building 6 of the O2 entertainment complex. Demolition and enabling works were carried out by another contractor, with whom we liaised regarding the standard of finish to be left and who took responsibility for each element of the works.

The proposal for these works is for a 500-seat immersive theatrical and eating experience, arranged across a Greek Taverna style space. The scheme includes front of house and back of house support spaces and a regeneration kitchen, which includes installation of specialist catering equipment and associated M&E services for ventilation, etc.

Our scope of works includes forming a new mezzanine level, new staging, new seating areas, viewing platforms and setting out the floor space ready for the client to come and place the final touches and scenic dressings before opening to the public. We have also needed to reconfigure the existing services to suit the new function of the building.

Works are being delivered in a live site with members of the public present. We have liaised with the building user representatives for the surrounding facilities throughout, to negotiate safe access, segregation and liaison over planned large deliveries and noisy works.
