Interview with: Neil Dower – Managing Director

Formed in 1982 our business has grown from strength to strength. 30 years on, the company achieves a c.£40m turnover, but has kept our reputation for impeccable quality, hands on leadership and a client-focused approach in all of our projects.

Typically, we work on projects from £200k to £8million in value, although we also deliver select larger schemes up to £25million for some of our repeat business clients. Conamar deliver works across a broad range of sectors in both public and private sectors, with vast experience in the healthcare sector, including clean room environments and complex reconfigurations in live and occupied premises.

Named as one of the “1000 companies to inspire Britain”, we are approved contractors for several government backed, OJEU compliant frameworks such as the Crown Commercial Service, Scape and Procure Partnerships Minor Works.

Every contract is important to us. Every project has director led approach to delivery, ensuring we meet our standards time & time again.

How does the Employer Benefit from frameworks?

There are several benefits to the employer, not least the speed at which they can appoint a contractor under an approved procurement route (OJEU). All rates have been agreed within the open market procurement process so the employer knows they are securing best value. Once in contract, the employer can be assured that the contractor is following an approved route to site, and being monitored and audited by the framework administrator to ensure cost and delivery compliance. Our Business Development Manager, Chris Davies, is able to talk our clients through their best options.

How is your company structured to deliver multiple framework projects?

We have an appointed framework manager and dedicated contracts managers who coordinate all projects with their teams, ensuring enough resources are available at both preconstruction and construction stages. We regularly report to both clients and Framework administrators, ensuring all information is captured and developed into the project.

How do you tender?

There are various procurement routes across our frameworks, including direct award, mini competition and single stage tender action. This covers all forms of contract and design requirements, dependant on project scope.

How do you deliver?

We will develop the design to a point where we can engage with our pre-vetted suppliers to get the most competitive quotes in the market, and then work with them to further develop designs to incorporate innovation and buildability.

On site, we follow our ISO 9001 ans ISO 14001 approved management systems to ensure a consistent and compliant approach to every project, with a focus on client communication at the forefront of our operations.

We believe in achieving excellence in both service and delivery – as testament to this, we have worked with some of our clients for over 30 years and continue to help them meet their ongoing needs.
