One of the more challenging aspects behind our work would be completing both extensions and refurbishments for surgery premises, especially since they cater to people seeking medical attention. We therefore take pride in our workmanship as we deliver the results people are looking for without causing too much disruption over the crucial tasks which are typically undertaken at such establishments. Below, we have taken a close look at some of the doctors’ surgery projects we have completed with extensions, refurbishments and new builds.
Dolphin House Surgery, Ware
This project aimed to deliver a new medical centre facility, office space and pharmacy shell, associated work and car parking. We got the ball rolling by stripping back the existing shell and laying down the initial groundwork for what would be a sizable extension plan. During the work, Conamar were required to refurbish and extend the old fire station, construct a new roof, offer internal reconfiguration, and complete both external and M&E upgrades. Steel framing along with brick and timber cladding was used to build this three-storey extension, and during the design stages, we offered regular input along with the structural engineer and architect to maximise efficiency.
Lattimore & Village Surgery
Starting back in July 2020, this is the third project we secured for our repeat business client, Assura. Here, Conamar have worked on both the design and construction of a brand new three-storey medical centre facility and pharmacy shell, making sure this is made to BREEAM Excellent standard. Since work is adjacent to a local primary school, we made sure both noise and dust was maintained at all times, therefore reducing disruption. Working in line with our commitment to the Considerate Constructors scheme, local residents were warned well in advance about the planned work, handing them ample opportunity to raise their concerns.
Chells Surgery, Stevenage
The complexity of this project meant we had to carry out each section in phases as this ensured the surgery could remain live whilst work was underway. We helped with both the design and construction of three extensions and a full refurbishment to an existing single-story Primary Care facility. Made to BREEAM Very Good standard, this also included associated works, car parking, and partial demolition works, all completed with distinction throughout. Upon the completion, this project will include a new comprehensive mechanical and electrical installation along with new windows, doors, roofing, footpaths, hard and soft landscaping and external lighting.
Waltham Cross GP Surgery
Conamar were appointed to this project under the SCAPE framework, where we were asked to develop the design from initial feasibility stages through to delivery and handover. Phased into two sections, the project consisted of both internal and external refurbishments to the existing surgery. The building structure comes with a two story layout and has been extended twice. Upgrades were made to the plant room at roof level and further plant in the basement. From the inside, windows remained in place from the original external walls, and these now look into clinical spaces rather than outside.
NHS Bull Plain Clinic
Repairs to the building’s roof, chimneys, walls, ceilings and glazing were part of the refurbishment we completed at the East & North Hertfordshire Primary Care Trust’s Bull Plain Clinic. Upgrades were also made to the mechanical and electrical services, and we also fully redecorated all internal and external walls.
