Over the years, we have formulated a proficient level of service for retail refurbishments, helping major brands establish themselves among the masses. Our quick-turn around and steep knowledge for this type of work has seen the Conamar team develop a broad portfolio across a number of different industries. Below are some of the projects we have completed, along with the nature of work involved.
Farnborough Retail Park Refurbishment
During a two-week period, we managed to overhaul an existing retail park with major upgrades made to the buildings and general aesthetic. The aim of this retail refurbishment was to enhance safety provisions and make the layout appear more attractive to both staff and visitors. Some of the key aspects behind this project were roofing, erecting canopies around the entrance, improving the paved walkway, new signage and upgrading external lighting.
Harrods Wine Shop Refurbishment
The main objective for this store refurbishment was to create a brand new area to house a wines and spirits department for Harrods. To get this completed, we needed to demolish existing fixtures and make necessary alterations. Our team then fitted bespoke display units, lighting features and custom-made joinery. Since access to the store was limited, we had to oversee very careful planning to ensure the project ran smoothly. It was also important that disruption was kept to a minimum whilst shoppers were navigating the store.
John Lewis Oxford Street Refurbishment
This shop refurbishment was valued at £10 million and took 32 weeks to complete. Given the considerable scale of work required, we developed a plan where 8-9 phases were worked on per floor. Our team then worked relentlessly to ensure these areas could be again accessed within effective timeframes. Every little detail was calculated with precision, as one misstep would have severely damaged our chances of meeting the deadline. The final result was a refurbished shop fitted with a brand new ‘home’ concept, stretching across the centre of the store, creating a prominent architectural feature.
John Lewis Project Olympia
We also helped John Lewis complete their project Olympia, overseeing the second phase of the shop refurbishment program. This time, our team was required to deliver new concept fit-outs to both the menswear and beauty departments in Sloane Square. Further to this, we also helped complete a retail refurbishment for the branch’s beauty hall. Another large-scale affair for Conamar, here we had to coordinate 35 shopfitting contractors to supply, deliver and install in accordance with the program specifications.
John Lewis Rooftop Garden
A much smaller scale retail refurbishment was required here for John Lewis, where this time, our team helped create a roof garden along with refreshment facilities, seating areas and various activities for customers. Making use of an unused roofing area, we created the ideal space to hold events and help launch products across various seasons. Work was completed on the sixth floor of the store, which meant tight deadlines needed to be met, and we also had to deal with fairly complex logistical problems.
TfL Victoria Arcade
Here, we managed to enhance the shopping experience at the Tfl Victoria bus terminal. Both internal and external shop refurbishments were completed, which consisted of stripping out the existing tenant fixtures and fittings at this listed building. We also installed brand new water and electrical supplies, repairs and redecoration works to external facades. This project also proved to be difficult logistically, with management and segregation required for two open elevations.
