As part of Project Olympia – phase two of John Lewis’s refurbishment programme – Conamar was appointed to deliver new concept fit-outs to the menswear and beauty departments on the store’s ground floor.
The menswear department, home to labels such as Ted Baker, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren, was increased by 2,000 sq ft
(186 sq m) to 17,000 sq ft (1,579 sq m), and has a new sleek and modern design, mirroring the concept already rolled out in the menswear department at Peter Jones in Sloane Square.
We also completed an 18,000 sq ft (1,672 sq m) refurbishment of the branch’s beauty hall – the world’s tenth best-selling beauty department – expanding it by 50 per cent. The new layout also introduced a range of new brands focusing on fragrance and niche assortments such as haircare, skincare, and nails; and the number of premium brands has now increased from 21 to 26, including Jo Malone, Burberry Beauty and Top Shop Make-Up, which were all firsts for John Lewis.
Working in a live department store and co-ordinating 35 shopfitting contractors to supply, deliver, and install against our programme was a challenge requiring meticulous detailing and planning by our project management team.
