Procured via a design and build partnering arrangement, we have now completed phase 2 of the John Lewis Peterborough store development.
The works involve the fit out of the previous shell and core works and complex structural alterations completed at phase 1, as well as a refresh of the existing store.
As part of the project we also delivered refurbishments to the mall entrance of the overall shopping centre, and decorations to the escalator bodies.
At tender stage, we identified a primary risk was access to the escalator bodies for this aspect of works. We worked closely with our scaffolding contractor and the structural engineer to design a bespoke scaffolding system which wrapped around the existing escalators so they can still could be used by members of the public whilst our works progressed.
The store now feature an experience desk offering services such as personal styling, home design and nursery advice. Meanwhile, the new beauty hall is introducing new brands and ranges, and offers a variety of consultations. The womenswear department offers customers one-to-one or group personal styling appointments in its Style Studio.
