Near Bolton, work on defence contractor MBDA’s new world class manufacturing facility is progressing well.

The 10,000 sq m facility, including 2,000 sq m of offices, is set for completion to shell and core by the end of this year. The steel frame is now in place, the building is clad and external works are underway.

Here, sustainability is a major focus. And tasked with achieving BREEAM Very Good for a manufacturing facility on a List X defence site that was formerly a National Coal Board site, every detail counts.

Being appointed on a full design and build basis helps, however. We have control over every element of the build and can design and develop the entire building with environmental factors second only to the end user’s requirements. From ensuring structural integrity following extensive remediation to services and landscaping, we have a responsibility for this rating and are confident of a positive result as well as a secure and operationally effective building.
