Conamar has completed construction of a new £800,000 retail warehouse development in Windsor, Berkshire, on behalf of private developer AA Clark Ltd.
The 10,580 sq ft (983 sq m) development replaces a former car showroom, workshop and petrol filling station on the corner of Arthur Road and Alma Road on the main approach into Windsor town centre.
The first unit, which provides a total of 4,215 sq ft (391 sq m), has been let to Southern Co-operatives Ltd. Unit 2, providing 3,200 sq ft (297 sq m), has been let to Majestic Wine Warehouses Ltd. Unit 3, 3,165 sq ft (294 sq m) is currently under negotiation with prospective tenants.
The Co-op has recently opened and Majestic will open at the start of July.
Conamar has retained the building’s existing steel frame and created three new retail units with 32 car parking spaces. The works comprise alterations to the existing steel frame, providing a new roof and cladding for the structure with brickwork to 3 metres and vertical cladding above. The shell has been completed with shopfronts and utilities installed for handover to the retailers for their internal fit-out.
Neil Dower, Managing Director of Conamar said: “This was a great opportunity to improve the appearance of this prominent site by transforming the building into new shops and creating better facilities for the local community. We have worked closely with nearby residents to keep disruption to a minimum throughout the construction period.”
Langley Hall Associates were the architects for the scheme and Hannah-Reed were the structural and consulting engineers, both appointed by Conamar.
